Doxa is Committed to Haiti’s Complete Reforestation

 

The deforestation of Haiti, whatever its direct and indirect causes, has reached a point where it’s threatening the very existence and sovereignty of this beautiful Caribbean nation. Because of the country’s geography and topography, heavy tropical rains and hurricanes usually result in flash floods and mudslides, associated frequently with loss in properties and human lives.

But all of this is being reversed through Doxa’s Reforestation Plan (DOREP). As part of Doxa Agriculture, DOREP uses a three-point approach that includes motivation, education, and locally adapted projects. With this simple approach, DOREP seeks to 1) motivate people primarily living in Haiti to reflect on this issue of national importance, 2) work with interested individuals or groups of individuals throughout the country to engage in reforestation activities, 3) develop and execute locally adapted reforestation projects. Since its inception in 2011 with our first campaign at Lascahobas, DOREP has produced very encouraging results. With God’s help, we will continue this work until Haiti becomes green once again.
